- Amazing antique Aircraft Radio Compass tuner used for navigation during ww2
- This unit is part #BC-433C, which is part of a radio compass system (SCR-269) used for direction finding and homing.
- These systems were commonly used on American bombers during the war.
- A radio compass is basically a radio receiver connected to a directional antenna. It allows the airplanes navigator to determine the direction of a distant transmitter. A second bearing to another transmitter allows the aircraft’s position to be determined
- The SCR 269 system, was installed in aircraft such as the heavy bomber B-24 Liberator, B-17 Flying Fortress, B-29 Superfortress, and medium bombers and transport aircraft
- We are unable to confirm if this actual unit flew, but based on documentation/evidence we can make a very good tie to these planes during ww2
- Industrial power on/off pull chain switch
- Assembled with various plumbing pipe fittings, some new and some old
- Stands ~21" tall, 8w x 10d very solid and well built, weighs about 16lbs
- Three wire power system, with approved connectors and wiring, with a ground wire added for safety
